Only a 45-minute flight away from Oahu, yet worlds apart, the Big Island of Hawaii is a site to behold. Your arrival, into the middle of a lava field, might almost seem like a moon landing. The airport runway is built on a solidified lava field created by the eruption of Mt. Hualalai in 1801.
On this day tour, you’ll circumnavigate the Big Island and enjoy plenty of great photo opportunities. Enjoy the views of lush tropical rain forests, waterfalls, taro farms, and black sand beaches as you travel Hamakua Coast. Stop at the Hamakua Macadamia Nut Farm along the way.
Don't miss out on the picturesque Rainbow Falls at Rainbow Falls State Park. This stop is known for the majestic waterfall that cascades 80 feet and is aptly named after the rainbows commonly seen here.
Next head to the 'Imiloa Astronomy Center where astronomy and culture education can be experienced through exhibits and shows dealing with Hawaiian Culture. There's also a small stop at the Big Island Candies Factory before heading off to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park!
The excursion continues to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where you’ll visit the Kilauea Visitor Center and Volcano House. Walk out to view the Halemaumau Crater. Along the visit keep an eye out for Steam Vents, Kilauea Iki Overlook, Pu'u Pua'i Crater, Luamanu Crater, and Puhimau.
Enjoy a short stop at Punalu'u Black Sand Beach where Hawaii sea turtles commonly bask in the sun and a stop at the Royal Kona Coffee Farms! Then head back to the airport.
There is a no-host lunch stop along the way.
