big island to oahu tour

Big Island (Kona) to Oahu - Pearl Harbor, Arizona Memorial & USS Missouri

The Arizona Memorial was closed in late May due to needed structural repairs.  This is an ongoing repair job that currently does not have a scheduled completion date.  During this time, depending on availability and time it may be possible for the tour to take the navy launch around the harbor without landing at the Arizona Memorial.  When repairs are completed and the Arizona Memorial is reopened, it will be added back into the tour.

Take a brief flight from Kailua-Kona to Honolulu on Oahu where you’ll visit one of the most momentous locations in the United States – Pearl Harbor. It was at the Pearl Harbor naval base, where on December 7, 1941, the United States experienced a surprise and ferocious assault from the Imperial armies of Japan, and was subsequently drawn into World War II.

Conveniently departing from the Kona Airport on the Big Island, this day-trip offers the most in-depth excursion to Pearl Harbor available. You’ll visit the Arizona Memorial, a platform that was built right on top of the sunken USS Arizona battleship. Then tour the USS Missouri battleship, which held the events that ended the war. You’ll have lots of time to experience all the famous sites and the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. A World War II expert guide will be with you throughout the tour.

After visiting Pearl Harbor, your tour will continue with a drive-through of the Punchbowl National Cemetery of the Pacific, which contains the courts of the missing, the chapel and meticulous mosaic maps of the Pacific theaters of action in World War II and Korea.

The closing portion of the day-trip is a drive through the historic area of Honolulu where you see popular attractions, including Kawaiahao Church, the Hawaii State Library, the King Kamehameha statue, Iolani Palace and the historic Mission Houses.

Tour Highlights:

  • Pearl Harbor Visitor Center – browse through the exhibit galleries featuring World War II artifacts
